What you will learn

Over twelve weeks, you will learn the skills that real kitchens and cafes use every day.

In the kitchen:

•     How to handle food safely and keep a clean station

•     Knife skills and the basic cuts

•     Cooking methods like roasting, grilling, braising, and baking

•     Making stocks, sauces, and soups

•     Cooking poultry, beef, pork, eggs, grains, and vegetables

•     Plating food so it looks good and reads as professional

Behind the cafe counter:

•     Making drip coffee and pulling espresso shots

•     Steaming milk and making lattes and cappuccinos

•     Taking orders and serving guests with confidence

•     Working as a team during a busy rush

The whole course is built to help you reach that industry-recognized credential with confidence, with patient instruction and plenty of hands-on practice along the way.

How the program works

•     The program runs for twelve weeks.

•     You attend one day a week, about five hours each day.

•     Each day starts with a one-hour barista lesson.

•     Then you move into a four-hour, hands-on cooking lesson.

•     Attend in person Monday through Thursday, or join online on Friday.

•     Groups are small, so you get real attention and support.

Who this is for

This program is for adults who want to learn kitchen and cafe skills and work toward a job. You do not need any experience. You just need to show up ready to learn. Our instructors are patient, and the setting is supportive from your very first day.
